So of true horror is your goal classic cthulhu is still your best bet, dark ages works well for low-magic fantasy settingsīut its great if you want to run a dark fantasy setting with lovecraftian elements. I have it for 5e and as a lot of people here have already said it's a pretty great resource (supposedly there is a little less material in the pathfinder version as that came out first)īut because d&d is d&d, it does become more of a power fantasy type setting, similar to pulp cthulhu in a sword and sorcery setting.
